How do you choose the best university? It’s such an important decision with so many different things to consider. Of course, there are the obvious things such as the courses on offer and how well they serve my career ambitions. But what about the other, less academic, more social aspects of choosing a uni? If you are spending three or four years in a place, surely it makes sense to make sure in advance that it’s going to be somewhere you’re going to enjoy?

The Engine Room is the local 2000 capacity venue where many music acts appear. As the biggest venue in the East Midlands, it is able to attract pretty big names. Past gigs by Dizzee Rascal, Marina and the Diamonds, Kings of Leon, Ben Howard and many others too numerous to mention, have wowed Lincoln music lovers.
Lincoln is located centrally in the middle of the country, making it a great place for travel connections. If you have a hankering for foreign climes, simply grab your passport and head off to nearby East Midlands Airport which flies to many international destinations.
The town
There is a lot of history in the air in Lincoln, with a fair whiff of Roman and Norman backstory in the architecture and buildings. Narrow ancient streets, chocolate box architecture and on a nice, human scale, it’s surprising this place isn’t more of a star on the tourist trail. The stunning cathedral makes a fantastic centrepiece in the town, and it’s worth checking out because when you graduate, it’s where the ceremony is held. Super grand and the third biggest cathedral in the country, it’s the sort of place that would impress your parents and grandparents on the day you go to collect your degree.
